Well done to Derek Jenkinson, Principal Engineer with RB Safety Consultants.
Derek was nominated for 'Team Leader of the Year' at the Scottish edition of the Ex-Forces in Business Awards for his outstanding work for RB Safety Consultants Ltd as the Spatial Lead for Babcock International Group on the Dreadnought submarine programme.
Babcock Chief Engineer (Support Delivery) stated:
'During his short time in industry, Derek has become an outstanding ambassador for his parent company, RB Safety Consultants Ltd and for Babcock International Group. His transition from Armed Forces to industry was with ease and Derek has managed to apply all of the leadership skills and in-depth technical knowledge from the RN, to the delivery of a complex Through Life Support task, in support of a new submarine platform.
He manages a team of ex-military and industry-grown engineers with assurance and confidence of someone used to working in a demanding environment. His military training is evident in the care he takes to ensure that his team have a full understanding of the requirement and have all the skills and facilities to deliver a quality product.
Derek is mindful of the well-being of his team and leads by example through dedication to supporting the programme to deliver results against a demanding schedule. He has used these skills to quickly move into a senior position and clearly has the potential to take on roles of far greater responsibility as he establishes himself in the industry environment'.
